Create a vibrant, textured floral artwork using a combination of paper and paint in this hands-on mixed media workshop. Perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike, this class will guide you step-by-step in building a layered composition that brings flowers to life on canvas.
You’ll start by exploring what defines mixed media and how combining materials adds depth, interest, and personality to your work. Then, learn how to apply paper to a canvas using simple collage techniques—creating a rich foundation full of texture and visual movement.
From there, you’ll paint expressive acrylic flowers, a vase, and foliage, learning how to layer color, build dimension, and create eye-catching focal points. Along the way, you’ll gain confidence in composition, color choices, and creative decision-making.
In this workshop, you will learn to:
Understand what makes artwork “mixed media” and how to combine materials successfully
Apply paper to canvas using collage techniques for texture and depth
Paint stylized acrylic flowers, leaves, and a vase
Layer materials and paint to create a cohesive, dimensional piece
Develop your own artistic style while working from a guided project
Leave with a finished 3D-inspired floral canvas that’s ready to display—and the skills to continue exploring mixed media at home.

Turn paint into sculpture—create luminous, dimensional florals that glow with gold and movement.
What if your painting could catch the light like sculpture?
Step beyond flat painting and into the world of sculptural surface. Learn how to transform a simple canvas into a striking, dimensional floral artwork using texture, layering, and luminous metallic accents.
Working with modeling paste and expressive tools, you’ll build raised, sculpted petals that catch light and create natural movement. You’ll then refine your piece with soft, elegant color transitions and finish with rich gold accents that bring a sophisticated, gallery-worthy glow.
Students will learn:
How to create dimensional texture using modeling paste
Layering techniques for a rich, painterly surface
Color blending and soft transitions
How to add gold accents for a luminous finish
How to approach painting intuitively without overthinking
Since modeling paste requires significant drying time, the instructor will prepare partially textured canvases in advance. This will allow students to focus on shaping, refining, and finishing their pieces during the session without waiting for drying. The instructor will create a base structure of the flower, and students will refine the texture, add paint, and develop soft gradient color transitions.
Each student will leave with a finished artwork and a deeper understanding of texture and expressive painting.

Texture, light, and movement come together to bring a butterfly to life on canvas.
In this immersive, hands-on workshop, you’ll explore sculptural painting techniques that go beyond the brush—building dimension, softness, and shimmer into your work.
Using modeling mediums, layered color, and luminous accents, you’ll create a richly textured butterfly that feels both grounded and ethereal.
Whether you’re new to painting or looking to expand your creative voice, this workshop offers a fresh and inspiring way to approach mixed media.
Students will learn:
How to build texture and movement in a composition
How to create soft, luminous color transitions
How to use gold accents to enhance light and depth
Balancing detail with expressive abstraction
Since modeling paste requires significant drying time, the instructor will prepare partially textured canvases in advance. This will allow students to focus on shaping, refining, and finishing their pieces during the session without waiting for drying. The instructor will prepare the main shapes in advance, and students will complete the piece using thinner layers and finishing techniques to ensure everything works well within the session time.
Each student will leave with a finished artwork and a deeper understanding of texture and expressive painting.
