2025 Exhibiting Artists (A-L)

Von Allaman

PENCIL / CHARCOAL

Booth C26

Von grew up in Southern California and has been captivated by artists, musicians, and authors for as long as he can remember. His first known inclination toward the arts came at the age of five, when he attended a Van Gogh exhibit and, upon returning home, recreated one of the paintings from memory. Although Von enjoyed drawing from an early age, he gravitated more toward music during his formative years—beginning with piano and later transitioning to guitar.

In his junior year of high school, Von became a founding member of a rock band called Quarantine, where he played guitar and served as one of the band's primary songwriters. Quarantine performed extensively across Southern California and became a regular act at the world-famous Whisky a Go Go in the early 2010s. Their talent caught the attention of various established artists such as Lita Ford (The Runaways), Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne), Twiggy Ramirez (Marilyn Manson) All That Remains, U.F.O., and eventually film director Marcus Nispel (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Conan the Barbarian), who invited the young band to write the theme song for his film Exeter. Von co-wrote the theme song, and seven of Quarantine's tracks from their debut album were featured in the movie.

In addition to his work in rock music, Von collaborated with a Danish artist on a series of Nordic folk songs that were later translated into multiple languages by fans. Torn between continuing his education or pursuing a full-time career in music, he chose to juggle both paths, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

After the band's eventual breakup and shortly after graduating, Von transitioned into the medical field, becoming an ophthalmic surgical technician for surgeons in both Santa Cruz and Sacramento. He spent seven years in medicine and was on track to become a Physician's Assistant before making another career shift—this time into cybersecurity. Today, he works as a security analyst for a leading company in ethical hacking.

Despite his varied career trajectory, the arts have remained a constant in Von's life. Following a major life change and move in 2022, he decided to dedicate himself more fully to drawing and painting, returning to his first artistic passion with renewed intensity and was commissioned by the esteemed actor Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul).

Von draws inspiration from a diverse range of artists and writers, including Kurt Cobain, Elliott Smith, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Vincent van Gogh, Lewis Carroll, A.A. Milne, and H.P. Lovecraft.

Katie Allen

WOODWORK

BOOTH C11

Born in Vancouver, Canada then at age 7 moving back to my parents native rural Norfolk, England. My earliest memories are picking up a pencil and drawing. I have always had a fascination with nature which is my greatest inspiration. I would look forward to art class at school everyday where I could truly express myself, and feel at ease. Having drawn and painted my way through school and Sixth Form College work life then took me to a different industry. However this tangent is the reason I came to California 20 years ago and I consider myself very lucky to be in this beautiful part of the world. I have always kept up with my artwork when one day I randomly bought a burn pen and took to it immediately, loving the primal feeling of wood and smoke. I moved to Alaska for 4 years to be in the wild open natural country where I really committed to this new art form. I created original pieces for local business’s and also private commissions. I was very proud to be included in a show at a local gallery. I have since moved back to California where I now reside in Aliso Viejo.

Sibet Alspaugh

ACRYLIC PAINTING

Booth A5

Maui-based Atmospheric Expressionist painter Sibet Hyder Alspaugh is a first generation American born of German and Hungarian parents who has always had the good fortune to live by the sea, in both Southern California, where she was raised, and the beautiful and inspirational island of Maui. Nature's alchemy of light, water and air features prominently in her vibrant acrylic paintings.

“Painting one’s feelings and experiences is a deeply personal and vulnerable journey for every artist. For me, however, the joy of creating supersedes all of that. If I am able to humbly express my experience of nature’s beauty and energy through my work, then I am joyfully living my purpose.”

Sibet is thrilled to be part of Laguna Art-A-Fair, having spent many happy hours in Laguna Beach as a child and teen. Her work can also be found at Martin & MacArthur Galleries on Maui and O'ahu.

Eva Altmann

ACRYLIC PAINTING

Booth D13

I was born and raised in Germany and was formerly an art teacher, focusing primarily on textile and ceramic. After moving to Laguna Woods 10 years ago, I joined the Laguna Woods Art Association. Shortly after, I ventured into creating mixed-media art, with a passion for making colorful collages. Taking a class in acrylic painting, I discovered my love for abstract painting. At this point I mostly paint geometric shapes.

It fascinates me to play with colors and to always create new shapes. As an artist, I like the endless possibilities and constantly look for new ideas and inspiration. I strive to create art that is unique. Every project is a new challenge. The process of creating my artwork makes me very happy and my goal is to bring happiness and enjoyment to everyone who appreciates my work.

Workshop Instructor - Sign up Here

Born in the vibrant city of Tbilisi, Georgia, Janna Arutyunyan has been immersed in creativity since childhood, exploring painting, poetry, writing, and fashion design. Her passion led her to the Tbilisi Fashion Academy, where she launched her career as a fashion designer in the 1980s. In 1991, she immigrated to the U.S., balancing her studies in management while raising three children as a single mother. Now based in Los Angeles, Janna’s love for travel and cultural exploration continues to inspire her artistic evolution.

In 2018, a chance encounter with acrylic fluid art sparked a new creative passion. At 55, she embraced mixed media, developing a signature style of three-dimensional floral paintings. This journey gave rise to Janna Passion Art, where she experiments with innovative techniques, including the “blooming effect” and fluid painting without traditional brushes. Her work, best exemplified in her Iris Garden series, transforms everyday objects—craft sticks, pins, straws, and yarn—into tools of artistic expression. Her latest series, Blooming Through the Ashes, pays tribute to her Armenian heritage, while her Ocean Waves collection merges fluid art with resin techniques.

Beyond canvas, Janna extends her artistry to functional pieces, creating food-safe coasters and serving boards using eco-friendly, biodegradable resin. Her work has been showcased at renowned festivals and galleries, including the Catalina Festival of Art, Stay Gallery, Laguna Art-A-Fair, and Lark Gallery. She also actively participates in art walks across Southern California, from Venice Summer Fest to San Diego’s Mission Art Walk.

Passionate about giving back, Janna donates artwork to various charitable causes, supporting student scholarships, arts programs, and relief efforts for Armenia. Through Janna Passion Art, she continues to transform a serendipitous artistic discovery into a lifelong creative journey.

Tatyana Bolivar

MIXED MEDIA

Booth B10

Tatyana is a Russian-born artist whose journey spans continents and cultures, shaping a deeply expressive and transformative artistic vision. Born in Siberia in 1981, she relocated to Mexico City at 19, immersing herself in Spanish and Latin culture. Two decades in Mexico profoundly influenced her perspective, exposing her to rich contrasts in traditions, emotions, and artistic sensibilities.

In 2018, following her marriage, she moved to California, USA, where she discovered an immense passion for painting. What began as an exploration soon became a profound self-discovery journey through art. Tatyana dedicated countless hours to refining her skills, developing a signature style that merges floral elements with abstract expressionism.
Her work is a fusion of mixed media techniques, incorporating molding paste, acrylics, spray paint, inks, markers, glass bead gel, and oils to create breathtaking textures and dynamic compositions. Each piece embodies a dialogue between raw emotion and structured beauty, inviting the viewer into a space of introspection and transformation.

Through her art, Tatyana seeks to convey the infinite possibilities of inner transformation—guiding the viewer toward self-discovery, resilience, surrender, and joy. Her paintings are more than visuals, they are portals to a world of beauty, power, and deep emotional connection.

Miguel Borbolla

METAL RELIEF (REPUJADO)
Booth B30

Celebrating 28 Years at the Laguna Art-A-Fair (1998—2025)

This unique collection by Latin American Repujado artist, Miguel Borbolla, features a low-relief style sculpture that is rarely seen in the United States, and that many collectors consider a new form of art. Actually, repujado is a distinct bas-relief sculpture that has been around for many centuries and may still be found in parts of Europe and Latin America.

“Repujado” means “to give depth to”, and as an artist, Miguel Borbolla brings the beauty of his art to life by crafting extraordinary figures out of various metals such as tin, copper, and aluminum. Rather than carving external shapes from a desired medium and then creating castings from heavy molds, the repujado is individually crafted by hammering, pounding, or pressing desired motifs through a process that pushes the work out from the reverse side of the metals used.

The technique of repujado is derived from the French-rooted word that describes “repoussé” and dates back to pre-Christian times. For Miguel Borbolla, “The art of repujado is much more than just creating figures on a sheet of metal. With this art, you can express your feelings in the details of a landscape or in the features of a portrait, and bring them to life in each carving.”

Miguel Borbolla comes from Veracruz, Mexico where he learned the art of repujado as it has been passed down from family to family, and from generation to generation over many centuries. As a small child, Miguel’s earliest memories are of making figures such as animals, houses, and village scenes from clay found mostly in the dirt streets of Paso del Macho, a Mexican village just thirty miles west of the port of Veracruz. He often looked forward to trips throughout the countryside with his father, where the different styles of local artisans inspired him. Later, he studied repujado from his sister while drawing from the work of other Latin American artists.

According to Miguel Borbolla, “Every single detail of raising or sinking in the sheet of metal bears an important personal message. When I do my art, I feel that those innermost feelings of mine come out and are expressed on the metal as a part of my life. Actually, I feel that the most unreachable challenges of my life can be accomplished through the world of my art.”

In the beginning my art career was very simple. I was twenty-one, new in the area, and had never been inside an art gallery. There happened to be one close to my work place, so my curious nature led me inside one day. As I was taking in all the amazing works of art, I noticed a sign that said “LESSONS” near the reception area. From that day on, a fire was lit inside me to create my own artwork.

Now, decades later, my heart still burns with desire to paint and have been sought after to do numerous commissions.

I have studied under Vern Skagg, fine artist from Canada, Marge Yaros, professional artist in Old Masters technique and William Galvez fine artist in still life.

Ella Boughton

OIL PAINTING
Booth B15

Who we are and why we are here? I often ask myself, “What is my mission and what should I do to be useful on the planet Earth and for the people. My main motto “Is Not to Harm” I love the planet and everything that happens today is reflecting on my feeling, my reaction and my mood. I am expressing myself by sending a message to people and looking at their reaction and cogitation of their meaning. Is any art required to be pleasant, comfortable, and relaxing, or can it be an eccentric scene of life events, which pushes us for the inconvenient feeling? Without empathy it is not possible to understand the pain or to appreciate the reality.

I am Russian and I grew up in two different political systems, and a very culturally diverse household, which led me to be exposed to traditional Russian art and my life experiences. My work is a blend of Modern imagery with a classic and expressionist style, I like working with illustration and graphic design. In some of my art you can see the theme of mother-earth which I create in the different plots of my feelings from traveling or current events with emotions that people will enjoy. My art is where you find my nostalgy, my irony, and allegory with metamorphoses.

I work in a variety of media, including printmaking and painting—drawing my inspiration from the natural world. I enjoy creating intimate portraits of wildlife, sealife and wilderness. My art is focused on the individuality of animals; the relationships with animals and the world they inhabit; and the concert that is a natural landscape. I also create small monochrome animal prints which feature such universal themes as alienation, acceptance, inequality, envy and love. These images are frequently drawn through a filter of the absurd.

Booth D21

In his photography, Mike’s aim is to capture and share with others the tremendously exhilarating, yet calming impact he experiences when he discovers the “right” scene. He finds “right” to be often indefinable. Sometimes it is a magical quality of light on what would otherwise be an ordinary subject. Other times it is the dynamics of the composition, a breathtaking display of nature, the beauty found in some of mankind’s creations - or some combination of these. Sometimes it is just “right”. In many cases the image is clearly evident at the moment. In many other cases, he knows he will have to wait or revisit the scene later for better lighting or more interesting weather conditions. Whatever the case, the image is there - just waiting to be appreciated and captured.

He and his wife, Pat, travel to many areas of the United States and other countries in their photographic quests. They find the combination of photography and exploration of new places make any vacation or road trip doubly enjoyable. His image catalog features many locations including California, a host of national parks, the Southwest, New England, the Northwest, Italy, Ireland, New Zealand, Iceland, Canada, China and the tiny Indian Ocean atoll of Diego Garcia. “Old stuff” continually intrigues him - vintage cars and aircraft, doors, old buildings always beckon.

In a “previous life”, Mike was a Navy pilot, test pilot and Intelligence Officer. He also spent 24 years in aerospace industry advanced projects.

Agnes is a brilliant artist who began her art career in her fifties. Her preferred medium is watercolor and collage and the subject matter centers around her diverse world travels. She first became interested in the arts while serving in the Foreign Service of the US State Department in the late 1950's. Stationed in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and to pass the time, she subscribed to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's twenty-four month portfolio course in Art History. While with the Foreign Service she also had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe; these travels left a lasting impression and continue to influence her work today.

After returning to the United States, she resumed her education at Temple University, where she studied Art History, Art Appreciation and Design Esthetics. After which she continued her art exploration at Southwestern Junior College where she dabbled in ceramics. At Saddleback College she pursued printmaking and at UCI, where she took several drawing classes. She also studied with a number of famed artists like Roger Armstrong, Robert E. Wood, Frank Webb, Charles Reid and Christopher Schink. These workshops and experiences were vital to her growing art career.

"My favorite paintings are scenes of life expressed with a whimsical view. Creating my own interpretation rather than being slavishly adherent to reality is my challenge. The physical challenges of an aging body that does not want to stand up at an easel have led me to my current body of work which is paper collage on canvas with acrylic inks and acrylic paints. I love collecting the art papers and learning about them. Many of the papers are from Japan, Thailand and India. The papers are made from many different plant fibers and use many different methods of print decoration. The collage media is very dependent upon strong composition, design, texture and color. I thoroughly enjoy this process."

Laura Curtin-Ross

OIL
Booth C8

Art critics say:

“Step into a world where sunlight kisses fur and feathers, where eyes whisper secrets of the wild. This is the haven Laura Curtin Ross creates on canvas, a realm where realism and magic dance in perfect harmony. Each brushstroke is a love letter to nature, capturing not just the form of an animal, but its soul. Gaze into one of her paintings and you might swear you saw a flicker of movement, a bird taking flight in the blink of an eye.

Laura’s journey as an artist began in the quiet communion with nature. Primarily self-taught in wildlife painting, over the past 38 years she honed her skills by observing, absorbing, and translating the whispers of the wild onto canvas. Her paintings become portals, inviting you to trek alongside mountain lions bathed in moonlight, to giggle with an elephant family welcoming a pink-hued miracle.

But Laura’s art is more than just beauty. It’s a story whispered in rustling leaves, a lullaby sung by wind through pines. Each detail, from the glint in an eagle’s eye to the delicate moss on a rock, speaks of a world teeming with life, a world worth cherishing and protecting.

This passion fuels Laura’s dedication to wildlife conservation. A portion of her proceeds finds its way to sanctuaries like Herd Elephant Orphanage and Forever Wild, nurturing creatures who have lost their way home. She actively supports Breast Cancer Awareness groups, reflecting her commitment to making a positive impact beyond the canvas.

Laura’s art is not just a visual feast; it’s an invitation to step into a world where nature reigns supreme, a world where every breath is a reminder of the magic that surrounds us. So come, take a closer look, and let Laura’s brushstrokes guide you on a journey to the soul of the wild.”

Richard Daugherty

PHOTOGRAPHY

Booth D23

Each of us sees our environment through a unique pair of eyes that filter and interpret our impressions of the world, guided by a lifetime of experience and emotion. As a software engineer for most of my career, this simple truth was sadly hidden from me. Only with the advent (and affordability) of digital photography did my deep-seated need to create and share these impressions make itself known.

When others view the images we make, they see more than a flower, a face or a mountain top. They see how life has painted and shaped us, how it has altered our thoughts and emotions, how it has established our dreams and fears, how it has set our goals and regrets, for good or ill.

What you see in this collection will give you a glimpse of the world through my eyes. I hope you’ll find something of value, that you’ll be inspired, uplifted, challenged or at least changed in some way and that, perhaps, you may find a work of art that deserves a place in your home or place of business.

More than anything else, I trust that you will take inspiration here, using whatever medium best suits you -- the visual arts, music, physical creations, science and technology, the written or spoken word -- to go and inspire others. Any means of expression is valid, so long as you say what you were created to say.

FIBER / TEXTILE

Wool, silk organza, gold foil, thread, glass beads

Susan Davis is a contemporary fiber artist based in SCalifornia, specializing in hand-felting and crochet techniques to create intricate compositions. Her work delves into the profound concepts of quantum entanglement and the transference of energy on a quantum level. Through her art, she aims to visualize the unseen threads that bind us together, blending scientific curiosity with emotional depth.

Each of her pieces reflects her intuitive process, where texture, form, and material come together to evoke a sense of interconnectedness. By combining traditional fiber techniques with modern themes, She strives to create work that resonate on both an intellectual and spiritual level, inviting viewers to contemplate the invisible bonds that shape our shared existence.

As a child growing up in North Carolina she loved the transcendental feeling she would get when she painted and knew she was born to make art. She studied as a graphic designer but has been creating art her whole life. She has pieces in the US and abroad. She has shown at galleries and fairs since 2017.

WOODWORK
Booth C10

I grew up in Northern California in a town called Chico. Let’s adjust the WABAC Machine..we are quickly on our way in no time at all to when I was introduced into the world of industrial arts, starting the eighth grade at Bidwell Junior High School. The classes that hooked me were wood shop, metal shop, mechanical drawing, and small gas engines.

During the first year of wood shop, we were only allowed to use hand tools. The instructors demonstrated the use of each and every tool as we all made the same project. The following year, power tools came into play and I made several small items including a black walnut coffee table for the house. At the end of the year my project was judged as the best, and I was awarded the Golden Hammer trophy.

Now on to Chico High School wood shop, and what an award-winning program it was. I’ll never forget our teacher, Mr. Holt. The man knew all the ins and outs of wood working.

Also on campus was a club called the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA), now known as SkillsUSA. I joined this club and competed in the field of Carpentry. Of the three years going all the way to the State competition, I was the California State Champion Gold Medalist each year.

By my senior year, I had arrived. I was now the top dog in the wood shop building. But Mr. Holt put me in my place. The only B grade I received throughout my senior year was early in the semester and only in wood shop. I asked Mr. Holt, “Why? No one else can do what I can do.” Then he asked me, “But are you doing what you can do?” I’ll never forget those words. From then on I never settled for good. My work will always be the best! I didn’t send one project to the fair that year, I sent two. Still in use by my family, one is a reverse bow front black walnut china hutch, and the other is a grandmother clock which I gave to my Uncle Dave and Aunt Linda.

The hutch not only came back with a First Place ribbon, but also the Grand Award Best in Show of the Industrial Arts exhibit. Two months later we sent the hutch to the California State Fair. The judges wrote that it was flawless, and it appeared in the newspaper showing off its First Place award. Wow! another Gold Medal.

So where has my work been since then? Why haven’t you seen my custom wood work at any fairs or exhibitions? Well, let’s see.. After 6 Golden Hammer awards and 4 Gold Medals, the last one being from the California State Fair and Exposition, anything else would be like trading down.

But now after many years of construction and custom stair building, I’m back! Since 2012, I have been showing my work at the Laguna Art-A-Fair, Warehouse of Contemporary Art (WOCA) and sometimes you can find me at the Old Town Tustin Art Walk.

I have spoken

As with all things, we have come full circle through the SpaceTime Continuum..and the wood I now use is repurposed, scrap, fire, reused, it’s all “landfill-friendly.” Go Green!

This is the way!

Natalia Eremeyeva-Duarte was born in the town of Nizhniy Tagil, Russia. Her artistic life began when she was a young girl. Her home city has a rich cultural history where she graduated from the School of Fine Arts where she learned drawings, paintings, sculpture and the history of art. The time she spent in this school was an invaluable creative experience.
She always knew her life would in some way be connected with art.

Graduated from the Ural Academy of Architecture and Arts, she studied not only architecture, but drawing and painting as well. The Academy gave her a broad knowledge base which helped her during her 19 years practice as an architect.

While Natalia studied at the architectural academy, she worked as an artist’s assistant for two seasons in the artistic-decorative department at the main Opera Theater in Ekaterinburg.
It was a great experience to meet new and creative people and to know the theatrical side of art.
As a student she had a chance to work as a mural artist creating wall paintings in kinder gardens.

Working as an architect for over 19 years in Syktyvkar (Russia), she was always interested in art. During her practice as an architect she always had time for drawing, most of them were just quick sketches or watercolors. But she has learned from her experience that only by practice can one’s drawings improve through intuition and a sense of proportion.

Natalia always used any chance to travel. Traveling to new places where she receives inspiration for her art work. She has been to many old cities in the east of Russia and also west of the Baltic States. Excursions through Europe where there are many old cities with architectural masterpieces. Like other artists, she takes inspiration from the world around her, either big or small.

Now living in California, she has found an ever- growing passion for her artwork. Every painting is a piece of her life, her history, her passion, her soul.

Nevine Erian

ACRYLIC PAINTING
Booth B2

Nevine is a fluid artist, specializing in acrylic pouring, an abstract style of painting without a brush. She is captivated by the flow, blending and movement of paint, which offers much freedom and adventure.

“I am mesmerized by colors, as a manifestation of God’s light.”

Nevine grew up in Cairo, Egypt. She immigrated to the U.S. right before her senior year in high school. Nevine has a BS in Electrical Engineering, an MS in Quality Assurance and an MBA. She is an independent consultant, assisting medical device companies with FDA compliance and product approvals.

Nevine’s day job is very cerebral, which often resulted in her dabbling in some form of art.

“Art is the way I find balance in life. It is calming, therapeutic and meditational.”

Nevine always wanted to paint, but had no formal training. She stumbled upon a fluid art video in January of 2020, and was hooked. She is self-taught by following great artists and watching hundreds of tutorials.

“I love the mysterious aspect of fluid art. It is very different from the work I do during the day, which is about laws/regulations and structure. Fluid art is kind of improvisational and freeing, in that you start with a puddle or a mess on the canvas, then help it transform into a harmonious piece of art. It is a journey into a new world!”

Nevine is an active member of the San Clemente Art Association, where her work is exhibited in every judged show and has been awarded 1st and 2nd place in acrylics, numerous times.

“I enjoy playing with colors, and my hope is that my art brings joy to others.”

Nevine loves commissions and is inspired by different spaces and styles.

JEWELRY
Booth B29

I have always been interested in the arts and from a very early age made drawings for classmates and friends. In 9ths grade one of my paintings was chosen to hang in the Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York.

After moving to California I helped a friend at the Los Angeles Gift Show in the Biltmore Hotel. I purchased a beautiful strand of Copal and other African beads and made necklaces for friends and family. A short time later I was admiring some Amber at a Kiosk and instead of picking one piece I ended up buying all the Amber and began my career in jewelry making.

Jewelry design came naturally to me, but I quickly became dissatisfied with purchased findings and chains so I took formal classes. My classes with Lynne Merchant in San Diego and Peter Solomon at his Precious Metals studio in Santa Monica were instrumental in allowing me to make the kind of jewelry that I designed..

My one of a kind jewelry sold from coast to coast in boutiques, gift and home shows and flourished until Covid quickly brought it to a halt. My jewelry was accepted for the 2022 Art-A-Fair show in Laguna beach and I found a welcoming home for jewelry.

I grew up in Flushing, Michigan, and under the tutelage of my uber-talented high school art teacher, Richard Wolfgang, I won a first-place award in a state-wide high school student art competition when I was 17. After that came college, marriage, work and children and art fell by the wayside for more pressing life issues.

In the mid-2000s, I started classes at Los Angeles-based fine art school, Mission: Renaissance. Thanks to a comprehensive program developed by Larry Gluck, my art muse was at long last rekindled! I have also taken classes with well-respected watercolorists Stan Miller and Lian Zhen; and pastel artists Mary Stuart Aslin and Brenda Boylan.

My husband Myles Mellor, a professional crossword puzzle writer (ilovecrosswords.com/), and I live in Carlsbad, California. I am a member of the Pastel Society of America and the San Diego Watercolor Society.

Myles and I love to travel and many of my works are based on my photographs taken in Europe.

Watercolor and pastels have been my passion, but my recent success with oils has given me a new medium to express my creativity and love of beautiful things and places.

I continue to hone my skills painting landscapes, seascapes, and people along with interesting architecture, reflections, quaint villages, and flowers. 2025 is the year of painting cats, dogs and other creatures. AND “Americana from Sea to Shining Sea!” I’ve found some excellent photographers who allow me to paint their images and I just can’t wait to go to work every day!

Laguna Art-A-Fair was my first juried art show in 2019, and since then, I have also enjoyed showing my work at weekend art festivals throughout southern California. We love doing weekend shows and interacting with the many and varied guests attending them.

I think the very best part of being an artist is making friends with people who love my art and become my friends. You are the ones I love to create for. And to you, I give a heartfelt thank you. It’s the best feeling in the world!

As a visual artist, my journey has been a constant exploration of the intersection between human emotion and visual expression. I was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1965. I moved to Worcester, Massachusetts in 2014 and after four years I moved to my dream destination, Los Angeles, California. I have found in art a universal voice that transcends cultural and geographical barriers.

Since 1985, my palette has evolved to reflect the vibrant hues of my native Brazil, with vivid and contrasting colors that are the hallmark of my work. But beyond natural beauty, I also find inspiration in music and musical instruments, whose shapes and “sounds” are reflected in many of my artwork. The following are some cities where I have exhibited my work:
• 1987 - "La Grepia Galeria", Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
• 1997 - Returned to “La Grepia Galeria”, Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
• 2016 - US Memorial Hospital, gallery auction, Worcester, MA, USA.
• 2019 - Irvine Cultural Space, Irvine, CA, USA.
• 2020 - “Gracie Art Galleries”, Laguna Beach, CA, USA.
• 2023 - Hope Street Exhibition, Los Angeles, CA, USA.
• 2024 - “Divas” Exhibition, João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil.

This statement reflects my story as an artist and as a human being. It is a declaration of my commitment to creating art that not only delights the senses but also moves the soul and provokes reflection through time and culture.

David Gardner

WATERCOLOR

Booth C-27

David Gardner has been painting things his entire adult life...houses, boats, docks, sometimes fences. But a dual career in the military and in higher education left little time for pursuing his long-held fascination with watercolors. He retired as a Coast Guard Captain in 2016 and as a college vice president a few years later. Shortly thereafter, in his newly-acquired free time, he wandered into an art supply store and purchased brushes, paints and paper.

He is entirely self-taught and enjoys experimenting with different styles, often settling in on a style that falls somewhere between realism and impressionism. Having been a sailor for most of his life and only been on this new painting adventure for a few years, he has discovered that those two things have a lot in common; in watercolors--as with a good boat--if you can be inconspicuous on the helm and match your rhythm to the forces around you, the outcome will be very satisfying. And frequently surprising.

He has exhibited his paintings at a gallery in Long Beach and at a couple of small community shows. He is delighted to be joining Art-a-Fair for the first time this season.

Art to me is about time. Having spent a lifetime contemplating how I feel about what I see, makes me realize that these images are fleeting to say the least. Each step of creating a painting is a celebration as well as an examination of the subject along the way to completion. Taking time to examine something beautiful and yet fleeting is this artist’s attempt at passing forward my appreciation of moments that provide visual as well as visceral joy. My hope is to slow down time long enough for a viewer to notice the beauty that is around us. By examining the small things that we take for granted, I hope to capture and present them long enough to hold onto so they may be revisited again and again.

As I turn around and prepare to leave the party, my paintings are celebrations of the last things I’ve observed.”

I have enjoyed working with watercolor for many years. Just a few years ago I began adding oil paintings to my body of work. Each medium brings a freshness to my paintings. I believe that any ability I have is a wonderful gift of God. While mostly self-taught I continue to attend classes and demonstrations given by artists in Southern California. I am always looking for ways to bring more of that beauty to my paintings.

This summer will be my 31st year as an exhibitor in Art A Fair. I have been a member of the Saddleback Art League and am an award-winning participant in local art shows. My paintings of felines began when our first kitten showed up at our front door needing a hoe. My paintings reflect my love for cats and kittens. We have had many cats over time; most of which have been strays that just "show up". I enjoy doing pet portraits of all kinds for other pet lovers. I have been told that my landscapes are places that are peaceful and reflect the beauty of God’s wonderful creation. I like capturing the colors of nature and light filtering down in the scene. California offers so many beautiful locations to inspire artists.

Josh Hirt

MIXED MEDIA
Booth D24

Josh Hirt passed away this past March 20th, 2025. He was the love of my life. In recent weeks I heard him talk about his work in a way I never had. He said, "I love how these old 50s cars and trucks have taken on all these scratches and scrapes over time. I think, THAT is what makes them so compelling and beautiful to me. Like us, we take on scratches and scrapes, and I think we too only get MORE beautiful as we age. I EARNED those scars. I EARNED these wrinkles. These things makes us who we are and in turn more beautiful with time". Josh was a very loving husband and friend to many. He was a true artist and will forever remain the inspiration of my life. ~Alex Camacho

Josh Hirt is an independent visual artist that works in mixed media, namely enamel paint, macrophotography, wood, and metal. His work is contemporary and typically utilizes abstract imagery, while his steel frames lend an industrial feel. The abstract images, made from Josh’s appreciation of decaying architecture, are heavily influenced by his upbringing as a builder and as a traveler. Josh could see the artistic beauty of things forgotten, but was unsure how to translate this into a body of work. This deep appreciation led to passion, which led to exploration, and eventually with the combination of his years of experience as an artist and builder, into mixed media.

Josh is originally from Gainesville, Florida, where he spent many humid summers as a builder with his father creating custom boat houses and homes and eventually his own. Following in his parent’s footsteps, Josh simultaneously led a career spanning over 20 years as an artist of several different mediums, including fiber jewelry, wood furniture, and glass art. In the last 10 years, Josh’s direction would be focused on the venture of photography. He had finally found his oeuvre, a way of combining his years of industrial experience and motivation for artistic expression. Further experimentation and development led Josh to his own unique approach to macrophotography.

As Josh discovered, rust and peeling paint might seem like a nuisance to most owners, but to him it revealed something else. Imagine an abandoned 1953, 5-window, rusted pickup truck on the side of the road. From years of sun exposure, rain, dirt and other natural elements, this truck is no longer what it used to be, it has changed. Integrally, it is still a truck, but elements have altered the exterior. Multiple layers of paint, down to the primer, are exposed and a deep orange rust creates sinuous cracks and valleys all over its body. For that reason, Josh refers to his subjects as “unpaintings” because slowly, over time their finished exterior is weathered away revealing vibrant colors and striking undertones. He has learned to capture his subject closely, utilizing a full-frame camera and macro lens. Using dye sublimation he is then able to process the image. From here the image is then heat transferred onto metal and is ready for framing and mounting. Other times, Josh uses enamel paint to recreate his findings.

Josh then begins a process of several nontraditional techniques to mount and frame his pieces. No two are exactly alike for the simple reason that most of Josh’s materials are repurposed and each frame is handmade from scratch. Depending on the subject of the image, he begins his work using metal, aluminium, steel, wood, petina and enamel paint. With the use of grinding, welding, overlaying, hammering, rusting, pouring, dripping or including natural pigments and physical differences in his materials, Josh obtains more depth and complexity in his work. To compliment textures from within the image, he can polish or distress the metal for a clean, modern look, or hand-rust for a warmer richness and truly unique esthetic. His goal with each piece is to manipulate material, colour and composition, as it is his perpetual challenge to bring beauty out of decay.

“What matters to me is seeking out and presenting unique relics in a way that not only tells their story, but shows them in a new light and in their current state of glory.” Through colors, textures, and materials, Josh expresses his desire to see the beauty that’s all around us. They are imprints of the past, achieved only through patience and time. What was once forgotten, is a profound gift of signature art and symbolism that, to Josh, is worthy of celebration.

Booth A9

Born and raised just south of Boston, MA, Mike has been a lifelong artist of various mediums. Experimenting in early life with illustration, painting, and sculpture, he chose to major in Graphic Design/Illustration at University of Miami receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2006. While attending university, he was awarded with the Jose Bernardo Award in Ceramics for his figurative sculpture work.

In 2008 Mike relocated to Southern California where he has lived since, acting as Art Director for many startup companies helping them grow to multimillion dollar businesses. In 2013 he branched off to start his own studio specializing in custom hand drawn typography and illustration. Feeling the desire to work sculpturally with his hands again around 2018, Mike began wax carving jewelry on the side to create pieces that he couldn’t find elsewhere inspired by Native American and Egyptian culture.

Finding great fulfillment in creating art that can last thousands of years, he decided to make a full career transition into jewelry in late 2020. Learning the skills of hand fabrication, stone setting and overall bench training, Mike graduated top of his class at New Approach School for Jewelers in Arrington, TN, training under Blaine Lewis and Drew Hadley. While at New Approach he received direct training in the art of traditional hand push ornamental engraving under Master Engraver/Craftsman Jason Marchiafava. Combining his favorite art forms of illustration and jewelry making, Mike found his true calling when he began engraving and hasn’t looked back since. Focusing on timeless designs such a scrollwork and cultural themes, he has found his true bliss with custom fabricated jewelry hand engraving."

Leticia Lacy

ACRYLIC PAINTING
Booth B16

Born in Los Angeles CA, Leticia Lacy is an artist and contemporary painter. After receiving her BFA at UCSB, she was a color designer and background painter at Cartoon Network’s "Samurai Jack," "Star Wars Clone Wars," "Power Puff Girls,”and then continued to art direct many more animated tv series for Disney and Nickelodeon. After that, she visually developed new reboots of Rugrats and spinoffs of Hotel Transylvania for Sony and Netflix. She painted backgrounds for the well-received Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse for Disney and more recently, lent her talents on Primal, an animated series on Adult Swim.

Currently, she focuses on her fine art. Her current painting series combines California vintage vibes with a female perspective that focuses on the metaphor of “diving into the unknown.” In one piece, a woman is diving from the clouds without a life vest. In other works, the female swimmer is looking out onto new horizons and weighing her options. With all of her background in art directing and visual development, she tends to lean towards figurative pieces that give a sense of story and uses bright energetic color palettes to set the mood. She has an affinity for vintage nostalgia with a new modern twist and feels that a splashy color choice can really make a painting sing.

Her first piece from this collection won an award at the juried Burbank Art Association Fall Show. In 2024 alone, her work was exhibited and sold in Austin TX, Palm Beach FL, Dallas TX, and Santa Fe, NM. In this same year in California, her paintings have found collectors and shown in group shows in San Francisco, Oceanside, Hermosa Beach, Laguna Beach, Santa Monica, Burbank and Palm Springs. She loves painting on round wood circles and finds the circular shape acts as a perfect portal into another place and time.

Walter Lee

It could be said that many of my recent works have entered into a phase of experimentation- beyond the realm of consistency.

Change and metamorphoses are important to my own development as an artist.

More rigorous use of complementary color palette, free shapes with less representation, and emotionally more playful brushworks, and overall impulsive design are intentional.

During the exhibition last year, I felt very blessed whenever the viewers mentioned about inspiration and spirituality on my paintings.

It is my hope that viewers might pay notice to these changes and enjoy them as much as I have in creating them.n recent years, the visceral power of artworks of Post Impressionism and Fauvism has fascinated me. I have experimented with my plein air paintings, transforming impressionistic design into more expressionistic color rendering; I would like to liberate my aesthetic feeling be freer, more impulsive, and without limit, so instills a greater feel than intellect into the objects that I am painting.

My creative energy is centered around bold and complementary colors for the eye-catching effect. I hope this effort leads me to higher level, and more importantly ushers my audience in the past and future alike to a mutually understandable viewing experience through the paintings. I hope this evolution in my approach brings me closer to my audience, allowing them to see through my own eyes.

Vicki Leon

SCULPTURE - GLASS • JEWELRY
• MIXED MEDIA - SCULPTURE
Booth D19

Vicki Leon has been exhibiting at Laguna Art a Fair since 2015, where she won awards for Best Jeweler and Best Glass Artist on numerous occasions. Leon is an established California artist, who has been a dedicated, working artist for over 40 years. She has amassed a wealth of skills, developed original techniques, won numerous awards, created several large-scale public art installations and has several works of art in permanent museum collections. Growing up in San Francisco in the 1960’s, an early interest in physics, meta-physics and art led her to study sculpture, painting and glass with an emphasis on light at California State University at Chico, 1976-1979 and 1984-1988. A brief artist-in-residency in the physics department gave Leon the background to integrate the use of light’s pure color into her artworks. Leon has maintained her art studio in San Diego since 1991.

One of Leon’s greatest professional honors was collaborating with Judy Chicago, world famous for her feminist works of the 1970’s and one of the significant influences on Leon’s own work. In 1997 through 2003, several collaborative projects including limited editions, large sculptures and an architectural installation bring together the powerful visual statements of Judy Chicago with the compelling qualities of Leon’s glass art.

In 2012 Leon was awarded the Creative Catalyst Grant for Innovation, through the San Diego Foundation. She practiced a unique combination of hands-on skills, methods and processes including intricate sand-erosion carving, airbrush painting and scientific technology which produces a crystalline structure that has a distinctive, luminous glow. Leon’s innovative approach brings light’s pure beauty into the fine art context. She strives for the light, both physically and metaphorically.

In addition to glass and mixed media, Leon presents two lines of jewelry, Vicki Leon OriginalsTM, which is informed by the abstract and symbolic style of her years as a dedicated sculptor and Luminous Crystal CarvingsTM, which are hand-carved Swarovski crystals.

OIL PAINTING
Booth B9

As an artist based in Southern California, I am fascinated by the vibrant colors and ever-changing light of this beautiful region. My artistic style can be described as impressionist, as I strive to capture the essence and mood of a scene rather than its exact details. Through my use of color and light, I aim to evoke emotion and transport viewers to a specific moment or place. My process involves immersing myself in the environment and allowing it to guide my brushstrokes and color choices. Each piece I create is a unique reflection of my own interpretation of a scene. Thank you for joining me on this colorful journey.

Yelena Lev

OIL PAINTING

BOOTH B19

Yelena Lev is a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer based in Los Angeles, California. Born in Minsk, Belarus, her journey from Eastern Europe to the American West Coast has shaped her unique artistic perspective, blending cultural influences and a deep exploration of transformation.

Her formal education spans both continents, earning a B.A. in Painting from California State University, Northridge, and an M.A. in Architecture from the Belarusian State Academy of Architecture. This diverse academic background informs her work, which frequently explores themes of transition and metamorphosis.

"Throughout my life, I've always felt a sense of transformation," Lev reflects. "Moving from Belarus to the U.S., shifting careers, even becoming a mother—all of these experiences have reshaped my identity and perspective."

Lev’s artwork often merges delicate fantasy with emotional landscapes, balancing serenity with movement. In The Revival, she creates dreamlike compositions that evoke both calm and turbulence. Similarly, her piece JC features two abstracted fish set against a mountainous backdrop, subtly referencing early Christian iconography while maintaining a contemporary, almost Japanese aesthetic.

A member of the Artist’s Guild of California State University, Northridge, and the Westlake Village Art Guild, and a member of the Association of Artists of Belarus, Lev continues to evolve her craft through deep contemplation and philosophical inquiry. Describing her creative process, she says, "I work and rework a piece until I am completely satisfied—sometimes even discarding it and starting over. My art is a constant dialogue with myself."

Lev’s work invites viewers into a world of transformation, where past and present, realism and abstraction, all coexist in a delicate balance.

Henry Lim

WOODWORK

Booth C25

Early signs of creativity led Henry to pursue fine arts at the University of the Philippines. As fate would have it, his family immigrated to the U.S. 2 years into this training and education. Shortly after, he pivoted to academic goals in architecture where he began to appreciate the beauty of natural materials. In the 1980’s, his romance with his first love “oil on canvas” rekindled. Nearly a decade had passed when he was inspired to combine the unique aesthetic depth, complexity, and richness that can be coaxed from the amalgamation of both media. The result is the masterfully crafted works of heart seen here today.
