Slow-Stitch Quilting

Carrie Olsen

Learn the art of slow stitching through Kawandi.

Slow-Stitch Quilt: “Kawandi” a traditional style of quiltmaking that originates from the Indian subcontinent. In this technique quilters use various patches of fabric starting from the outer edges andworking their way toward the center. This method allows for both appliqué and quilting to happen simultaneously creating a unique texture and design. One distinctive feature of Kawandi quilts is the “Phula” or “blossom” that appears in each of the four corners adding a beautiful detail to the finished piece. Learning the art of slow stitching through Kawandi can be a rewarding experience. Join Carrie for a relaxing day of stitching, creativity and a whole lot of fun.
