Tips on how to prepare your images for submission

  1. MOST IMPORTANT: Name your files with your last name and number before uploading them. LastName1.jpg, LastName2.jpg, LastName3.jpg.

Correct naming: Smith1.jpg (JoeSmith1.jpg is also okay)
Incorrect naming: Joe Smith scene from my backyard.jpg
    Incorrect naming: IMG_1559.jpg
Incorrect naming: scene from my backyard.jpg

Once you upload the images you will not be able to rename them.

  2. Read the instructions carefully about file format, size and resolution! Some images submitted are too small and won’t display well for the judges, lowering your chances of getting accepted. We suggest a resolution NO SMALLER THAN 1000 pixels on the longest side. The file format should be jpg. It is to your advantage to save them in the highest quality you can.

  3. If you work in multiple mediums, apply for more than one. It doubles your chances of getting accepted.

  4. Enter your best pieces. If you can’t decide, ask your friends which images they like best. Submit the pieces that are going to make the judges say “oh, wow!”

  5. Take advantage of all three submissions. Three different pieces, one photo of each piece for two dimensional mediums like paintings, photography, prints, etc.

  6. If your art is sculpture or three dimensional, you should combine three different angles into one image. Submit three different pieces, three photos each.

  • Photograph your art in a bright, well lit area. Outside works great. Take a well-lit straight-on shot of your artwork. We are interested in your artwork only.

  • Don’t include the background. Crop it out.

  • Don’t include the frame unless it is unique to the piece of artwork you are submitting.

  • Signatures on a painting are okay, but don’t digitally add your name to the submission.
