FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Artist "APB" for AAF
December 31, 2007 –The Art-A-Fair Festival, presenting its 42nd annual season next summer, is again seeking new artists. The AAF is unique among the Laguna art festivals in that there are no geographic requirements for participants. Although primarily from Southern California, exhibitors include artists from other parts of the state and U.S., and even Europe. Last year, artists traveled from Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, Utah, Nevada and Japan to participate in the jurying.
Jury day is Sunday, February 10 and will be held at the Boys & Girls Club on Laguna Canyon Road. Artists who wish to be considered are invited to submit work for jurying either in person on that day, or by mail. Applications processing and artwork drop off on Feb. 10 will be between 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. Mail submissions are due by Jan. 20.
Every art form is welcome and represented at the show, including oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, drawings, photography, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, glass and wood. And, artists may jury with more than one. Artists who have hand-delivered their work on Jury Day receive their scores and notification of acceptance or declination at pick up the same day (4:30 to 5:00 p.m.).
Vice President of Marketing Vicki Burkhard said, “A number of changes were made to the AAF for the 2007 show, including introduction of a Venetian theme, which will be carried through in 2008. The entrance was festooned with flags and new lively graphics, as well as a new information and ticket booths in the Venetian style. I believe this contributed to our attendance slightly up at approximately 60,000 during a summer where many businesses reported flat sales.”
Forms and information about the specifics of submitting applications and work, including an Artist Prospectus and Application Checklist can be found at www.art-a-fair.com.
