Art-A-Fair Announces 2006 “Best In Show” Winner

Laguna Beach, CA -- The Art-A-Fair membership jury of nine exhibitors awarded “Best In Show” for the 2006 season to watercolorist Kevin Davidson, a resident of Orange.

As the winner, Davidson will be the cover artist for a limited edition 2008 wall calendar which will be for sale during the run of this year’s festival, the 41st annual, as well as on their website. The 10-week show, featuring approximately 120 fine artists and master craftspeople, goes from June 29 to September 2, 2007.

In previous years, the Art-A-Fair produced a poster showcasing a piece of art created by the Best In Show winner of the previous season, but feedback from buyers indicated they’d like to see and remember more of the exhibitors’ work. Davidson, as well as the others in the top 12, was asked to present two to three of their art pieces best representing their work. The Board of Directors and marketing team then rated the art using a point system, which resulted in the final choices for the calendar.

Davidson’s painting, entitled “Venice Canal”, ties in perfectly with the Venetian theme of this year’s event -- Palazzo Laguna. The theme will be carried out in décor, food and beverages, entertainment, and gondolier attire for festival workers and artists.

Other artists selected for the calendar are: Michael Gulewich, Steve Bloom, Geri Medway, Jack Wang, Sung Su, Janine Salzman, Gary Sohl, Damon Ramos, Richard Keyes, Richard Trujillo, and Jie Zhou, and their media ranges from oil painting to digital art, to wood sculpture.

The high quality 12” x 14” calendar will sell for $19.95 and will be available at the Art-A-Fair sales booth and on-line at www.art-a-fair.com.

The Art-A-Fair is open Sun. through Thurs., from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Fri. and Sat. 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. A season admission ticket is $7.00 for adults, $3.50 for seniors, students and military.
