FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Big Changes for 2007 Art-A-Fair
April 20, 2007 – Laguna Beach, California – Art-A-Fair President, Rich “Scooter” Brewer has announced many exciting changes and improvements to this year’s festival, the 41st annual. The 10-week show, which features approximately 120 fine artists and master craftspeople, runs from June 29 to September 2, 2007.
The Laguna Canyon grounds have been recreated as Palazzo Laguna. Adjacent to the sidewalk, in front of the entrance, eight large, brightly-colored striped pillars with panels mounted between them, are being installed and used to announce both daily and on-going activities, such as workshops, demonstrations and entertainment. A repetition of smaller versions of the pillars will lead visitors to the entrance where they’ll be greeted by “gondoliers” – employees and/or artists dressed in Venetian shirts, neckerchiefs and flat straw hats.
Says Marketing Director Vicki Burkhard, “We have worked very hard over the past months to develop a total sensory experience for our guests, which they’ll enjoy from the moment they approach the grounds. It seems like a reasonable goal to have every visitor to the Sawdust Festival and Festival of Arts visit us as well. We also want to encourage repeat customers during the summer, and provide an outstanding experience that will remain in their memories for the coming year”.
As visitors pass through the arched entry and turn to the right they’ll find themselves in Piazza Venezia, an open courtyard with a stage to be used for entertainment and as a casual seating area. The Piazza has been refurbished with iron furniture and umbrellas. A plan is afoot to have Ventian-themed murals painted on the formerly blank walls. The permanent gazebo in the center of the grounds, previously used for workshops, now houses a bar offering a full menu of cocktails, other beverages and snacks.
In keeping with the Venetian theme, Tivoli Too, renowned for its beautiful garden setting, has added Italian specialties. Patrons can either be seated with table service or order take-out and eat at the location of their choice.
Additionally, an exciting lineup of musical entertainment has been booked for the duration of the festival and includes light jazz, reggae, Motown favorites, blues and classical music. Another special feature of the Art-A-Fair are artist demonstrations and free workshops for adults and children.
The Art-A-Fair is open Sun. through Thurs., from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Fri. and Sat. 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. A season admission ticket is $7.00 for adults, $3.50 for seniors, students and military. Children 12 and under are admitted free with an adult. For more information www.art-a-fair.com, or call (949) 494-4514.
