Laguna Beach Festivals’ Passport to the Arts Consortium Announces Contest to Name Mascot

April 23, 2009 - Laguna Beach, California – The three summer art festivals of Laguna Beach – The Festival of Arts, Sawdust Art Festival and Art-A-Fair, along with the Laguna Beach Visitors & Conference Bureau – are asking Orange County residents to help come up with a name for the Passport to the Arts mascot. A contest has been launched to find a new moniker for the human-sized tube of blue paint, known for the time being as ‘Blue’. The mascot will be seen throughout the summer at the Act V parking lot where he will distribute information about the special Passport offer.

‘Blue’ was in attendance at the recent Imagination Celebration event at the Sawdust Art Festival where 82 people submitted their ideas. Entries can now be emailed to info@lagunabeachpassport.com until midnight May 14, 2009. The judging will be done by a team of three -- one representative from each of the festivals -- with the contest winner announced on the Passport website June 1. Prizes include four Passports plus a dinner for four at Mark’s Restaurant on Laguna Canyon Road (alcoholic beverages excluded).

The Passport to the Arts allows visitors unlimited admission to all three festivals for the entire summer season. Over 500 amazing and unique artists and 300 hands-on workshops, dozens of special events, and an array of restaurants and other food purveyors provide fun for the whole family; plus one time all-day free parking with each ticket, and much more. A $36 value for only $19! Additionally, selected retailers and merchants throughout Laguna Beach are offering special discounts to Passport holders. The complete list can be found on the Passport website and is continually being added to and updated.

The Laguna Beach Passport to the Arts can be ordered online at www.LagunaBeachPassport.com, by calling 949-497-0521. The Passport will also be on sale at any of the festival box offices during the run of the shows and at the city’s Recreation Center.

As a special bonus, visitors who purchase the Passport online by 6/1/09 will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a total “Laguna Beach Getaway for Two” in the Fall. Included are two nights at a charming bed and breakfast, two dinners, and other valuable prizes to make a retreat truly memorable.

Also available online or at any of the box offices is a complete list of local businesses offering discounts during the summer festival season.
