MOCA Director to Speak at Art-A-Fair
May 29, 2008 – Laguna Beach, California – Jeremy Strick, the highly regarded Director of MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles) will be presenting a talk on the subject of “Contemporary Art in the Museum” at the Art-A-Fair on Thurs., June 26, prior to the opening to the general public.
The Los Angeles Regional Chapter of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce will be hosting this exciting evening. The Chamber has a long-standing reputation for supporting culture and the arts, and this is the second year the Chamber has presented a special evening for its membership at the Art-A-Fair.
Jeremy Strick has been director of MOCA since 1999 and during his tenure the museum has presented an impressive range of exhibitions, including the landmark ©?Murakami. Mr. Strick brought the monumental Andy Warhol retrospective to MOCA as the exhibition’s exclusive North American venue. Under his guidance, MOCA has organized a number of exhibitions highlighting younger Los Angeles-based artists, including Laura Owens and Sam Durant. Before coming to MOCA, Strick was a curator at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C., the St. Louis Art Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
There are limited seats available for non-members for the price of $82 each. SACC members pay $69. Admission includes champagne/wine and hors d’oeuvres starting at 5:30 p.m., a sit-down dinner at Tivoli Too! and Mr. Strick’s presentation.
