About Jack Wang

Born in Shantung Province - The Birthplace of Confucius - Wang spent his early boyhood years in Taiwan where he because a member of the Modern Art Group, Taiwan New Artist, China Art Association and the exclusive Art Teachers Association.

Early in his career Wang was influenced by traditional Chinese painting; oriental moods were expressed with traditional colors of yellow ochre and cold moods dominated by blues. Always present were rich and somber blacks. Wang's style, however, changed over the years as he was more and more influenced by the contemporary western style. His use of color changed and his palette brightened.

Presently Wang is painting in a Realistic and Abstract style. He will do a series of realistic paintings for a few months and then go into his abstract. He finds that working in these styles helps keep his work new, refreshing and interesting. He feels doing abstract work keeps him spontaneous and fresh. His realism, he feels, gives him the control he needs.

Wang's realistic style is much closely related to traditional European and American realism. Hints of his oriental background can be seen in his realistic painting but mainly you will find his realism to be very western.
